Women are Warriors

During the period of our history, women have been labeled as second-class or third-class citizen. A woman who is merely to be a housewife, born to bear a child, to be a follower under the orders of men, and whatnots. They appear like puppets, because their actions are controlled by others. Society are still crippled by the manacles of stereotypes, sexism and discrimination. And here I stand, using my voice and creativity to empower every women. The feminist movement brought changes that people never would have imagine possible—from suffrage to access to education. However, the idea of women empowerment is often misunderstood and stigmatized. Therefore, my version of empowerment is building a world where you are safe regardless of your ethnicity, status, religions and sexuality.

Through the use of my artwork and my rigor to perpetuate change, I will voice out concerns and educate people about women's rights. Raising awareness will impassion the people to act, support and empower. We must demand for the fortification of policies that forfend not only women but everyone. With an educated population, we can prevent and eliminate discrimination, inequality and injustice. This means fighting against domestic and sexual abuse, abolishing rape culture, providing equal resources and opportunities for all genders and sexualities, as well as strengthening the representation of marginalized groups.

Real empowerment is not exclusionary. It is driven by education and awareness. I am Jeenelle Sadaran, a feminist, and I believe that no woman must be left behind. Everyone has the rights to become someone they want to be without anyone holding them back. Our differences shall not become the barrier to prevent anyone to grow and improve further.
