A Billet-Doux for Duterte
The presidency of Rodrigo Duterte began at June 30, 2016. He became the 16th President of the Philippines, and still the current president in this year. As a Filipino, I would like to share my sentiments toward him. I may not still be able to vote and elect deserving politicians, but I always care about my own country.
To our beloved President Duterte, I was expecting that the Philippines would be a better country in the hands of you. As a concerned citizen of the Philippines, I set high expectations and hopes that our country would improve a lot, since I heard enough genuine promises while you were still running for presidency. The moment you sat in your throne as a president, I have seen your contributions for the Philippines, and how you have handled every problems that our country has encountered and still encountering.
I was hopeful for the betterment, but I was displeased in your posture when this pandemic started to arise. Our country had been listed in the top 20th countries with COVID-19 cases. Some Filipinos are not able to receive assistance from the government, while other frontliners are lacking for protective equipments. I also sense an unfair treatment between the rich and the poor.
I understand that it must be hard for you to act as a father of more than a hundred million Filipinos, knowing that you are now getting older. But, I hope you can still accomplish every promises you oathed to do.
Despite the fact that you have been receiving destructive criticisms from the mass, I will still continue to respect you and believe in your ability to lead. I personally disagree a lot with your plans for the country, but I will still pray for your wisdom and righteousness. I hope you will be able to hear the complaints and grievance of every Filipinos. Prove to me that you really deserve to be called as a father of Philippines. I am anticipating for you.
